Of all the Jawbreaker live sets this pretty much takes the cake. The nice thing here is this is a soundboard recording so the music is extremely clear (remember tho its wasn't originally digital) and it places the band at the best time in their career between Bivouac and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy. Maybe I like this stuff so much because it reminds me of growing up. Hope you love it as much as I do.

Essential Beats - Jamie XX - Beat For/Far Nearer
Cutting the edge with his premier beatsmithing, as well and being a full contributing member of The XX, Jamie XX is certainly one to be watching in the upcoming years. Last year he unleashed a barrage of mixes for Boiler Room, Radio 1, FACT, etc etc as well as doing an album with Gil-Scott Heron and really showcased his incoming impact on electronic music. Jamies clearly tips his hat to uk garage and dubstep fusing a very enjoyable experience. These are two bangers he released last year.

Essential Demo - Neutral Milk Hotel - Beauty
I guess you could call this the second in what will be the eventual posting of all the NMH demos and boots. Beauty is from 1992 and like many other NMH early demos its hard to say that its not just a collection of various recordings Jeff Magnum put together to give to friends. The first five tracks have Magnum talking before and after each track. There's some great acoustic rarities in there. Beauty in its whole is very listenable;which to me is pretty big considering Hype City Soundtrack and Invent Yourself A Shortcake have so much unlistenable ear puke on them.

Flashback MP3 - Sauce Money - Against the Grain
This is the way hip hop should be. A true ol skool banger Against the Grain was the fist single of Sauce Money's Middle Finger U as well as a contributing track to the epic basketball doc and soundtrack Soul in the Hole. Produced by Dj Premier all these new cats like OFWGKTA should take a lesson on how it should be done.

Essential Bootleg - Husker Du - Drug Party
A great bootleg to help fill in anyones Husker Du collection. Released in 1990 by Aggressive Buddhist Records it moreso was a 7" containing songs from tapes that were circulated amongst fans. A much better ,or finished rather, version of Do You Remember was released on Everything Falls Apart and More. Both versions of Drug Party are great especially the Indianapolis version. And I'm sorry about the post xmas song at the end. I perfer other Husker Du but its a nice bootleg for any collection.

MP3 - The Hated - Departure
The standout track in my opinion from The Hated's legendary 'Demo 86' the energy and melodic chorus offer what was at the time were great injections of life into somewhat repetitive and stale punk. Again this song is big to me right now. Enjoy.

MP3 - The Antlers - I Don't Want Love
An amazing opening track from last years album Burst Apart... more and more I fully realise how much my mood influences my music. Its nice to have tracks like this around for the right time. Whatever that steel drum sound is I love it. Hope the snow melts soon.

Flashback MP3 - Sun Kil Moon - Lucky Man
A haunting and chilling release from Mark Kozelek, Sun Kil Moon's April remains one of the most striking and beautiful albums I've ever listened to start to finish. This song fits the dark mood of an overcast and raining day. It resonates inside me. Hope it does the same for you.

Adult Swim - Unclassified - Various Artists
Adult Swim has always been known for being a PR and exposure tool for developing underground artists escpecially those electonic based. I love this album Unclassified released last year which really showcases emerging types and sounds of electronic. Featured on here are the likes of Burial, SBTRKT, and Zomby. I've chose a couple less known names to throw up here tho. The first, Babe Rainbow, is from the BC coast and we love all things BC. It features haunting vocals from Ashley Webber. The second is the albums opener from Ikonika , World on Mute.

Essential Demo - Thurston Moore - Eric's Trip Home Demo
Finding this on the Daydream Nation Reissue released in 2007 was a pleasant surprise. The song was tagged as Sonic Youth but it's clearly just Thurston Moore rocking out at his house recording one of the most influentional and everlasting Sonic Youth song ever. Remember that canadian 90's band Eric's Trip? They were good. Flashback time.

MP3 - Wye Oak - Civilian
I love the Wye Oak (hailing from Baltimore, signed to Merge) take on folk music. Heres a great song from a great album that the AV Club called the best of 2011. I don't know what the weather is like where you're at, but we're having a freak blizzard/cold snap. Keep your insides warm to prevail. Oh yeah, in case you didn't know wye oak is a type of oak that is the state tree of Maryland.
*I removed the mp3 at the request of some unknown douche who reported me. Just FYI ,douche, this MP3 is readily available on the internet for free download, and I did not host it, I mirrored a link to a site that was. So pat yourself on the back for once again stopping the spread of good music. asshole.

Flashback MP3 - Oneohtrix Point Never - Zones Without People
Just as I'm finally starting to listen to new album, I though it would be blasphemy to not put up some classic older shit. Oneohtrix Point Never kinda reminds me a little of Boards of Canada. Its great music to zone out to reading. Zones Before People from Rifts is a great starting point for ambient drone music. Without a doubt I feel his new album has a better flow and high points than Rifts.

Wolf Parade 7" - Semi-Precious Stone/Agents of Love
This probably the missing link in many Wolf Parade collections. Its a great release, the sad thing about this release is that it was the last Wolf Parade release before the temp hiatus. Less side projects more Wolf Parade. Enjoy this up north mr.labs.

New Raekwon Mixtape - Unexpected Victory
What a way to kick off the new year. Dope mixtape without any over produced vocals. This is probably gonna be on rotation for quite awhile. Peep it for free at Dat Piff.

Essential Mixtape - Clams Casino Instrumentals Mastered
This was Clams Casino's little gift to everyone for christmas so if you were drinking too much rum and eggnog and slept on it here's a chance to rock it out again. Watch out for this guy to make some heavy tracks in 2012. The track 'Numb' is some of the best shit I've ever heard.
